Betty C Coy

October 9, 1923 - February 23, 2010

Biography

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life to honor Betty C. Coy, who passed away February 23, 2010, will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Lyons Chapel at Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, Ohio.

The service begins at 10:00 AM and will be followed immediately by a reception for friends and family to share a smile, a story and a memory about Betty. Breckenridge Village Chaplain Reverend Donald J. Grauer will officiate.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Along with her late husband Joseph O. Coy II, she was an active member of Mayfield United Methodist Church. She was passionate about teaching and cherished the relationships she developed with students and teachers at Mayfield Center Elementary School and Mayfield Middle School.

Betty was a wildlife enthusiast and conservationist, as well as a self-proclaimed “cat” person. She also loved to travel, making several trips to Europe and the Holy Land. Perhaps most of all, she enjoyed attending wrestling matches, football and basketball games at Mayfield High School and Ohio Wesleyan University.

Survivors are her sons, William D. Coy of Charlotte, N.C., and Thomas A. Coy (Terry) of Brecksville; grandchildren, Kathleen and Bridget of Brecksville, Elizabeth, Meredith and Shannon of Charlotte, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Lois Coy of New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph O. Coy Jr.; son, Joseph O. Coy III; parents, William and Elizabeth (nee Huddleson) Corbeau; and brother, William R. Corbeau.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Breckenridge Village Spiritual Life Endowment.
