Our History

Joseph Nero

1956-2022

Joseph M. Nero

A third-generation Italian-American and funeral director started working in our family business in 1969 and became owner in 1989. A graduate of Mayfield High School in 1974 and the University of Miami (FLORIDA) in 1978. Joe was the president of the Cuyahoga Funeral Directors Association, Board Member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, President of the Exchange Club, Member of the Knights of Columbus, Member of the Valley View Mens Club, Member of the Northern Ohio Italian Americans, Board Member of the Baranello Lodge, Board Member of the St. Monica Holy Name Society and also a Certified Funeral Service Practioner (CFSP).

We are incredibly grateful for Joe's tenure owning the funeral home. Joe anticipated the changing trends in funeral service and believed that cremation services were on the rise. To continue to provide our families with dignified service in cremation, Joe completed the acquisition of Blessing Cremation Center in 1999. In addition, Joe conducted some of the most extensive renovations to our Garfield Heights locations, including adding almost 3000 square feet to our existing building.

She was an active partner in the funeral home, and her contributions and ideas inspire the funeral home's design to this day.
